I can't recommend the game in its current state. If you played the MMO back in the day, you'll remember the wonderful ship editor that allowed you to snap blocks together and quickly make a ship of your own design. That is gone and has been replaced by what is basically a 3D modeling software. It's way too complicated, it takes way too long to make a functional ship, and it ironically reduces player creativity…

This is a pretty hard game for most people to get into. The graphics and gui are huge barriers to entry. But if you can stick with it, this game is downright amazing. It's a first-person survival game that flips into a citybuilder that morphs into a 4X empire strategy game.
