A 10/10 modern masterpiece from a gameplay perspective in my opinion and one of the best proper roguelikes that actually play like the video game Rogue released in over a decade. The visuals are so-so, they were going for a miniature diorama look, it works sometimes but falls flat on its face other times. The camera tilt-shift effect blur is also very low resolution and distracting, and some of the dungeon tile sets…

Shiren the Wanderer is a mystery dungeon game which means it's the japanese counterpart of the old-school western roguelike games like Rogue, ADOM and Nethack to name a few. While these western games are typically very complex and difficult, Shiren is streamlined and not too obtuse with it's mechanics. This is actually a deceptively simple game to get into, with both pros and cons. It's a matter of taste of course…

This is a good game but the artstyle is kind of rough and your attacks have a 100% chance to miss when you most need it. Would recommend if PMD wasn't right there. Maybe you can try it once you exhausted all the PMD games and if it didn't cost 40$ (20$ is fine though). Will update once I beat Heart of Serpentcoil Island.
