The concept of each character being able to absorb a different colour bullet is novel, and makes for some nice variety on subsequent plays. Character art is okay, background art is rather bland. Soundtrack has room for improvment. I felt like the game would have benefit from shorter stage lengths overall. Okay for the price.

Gun Wings is a surprisingly good bullet-hell game for veterans of shmups. It uses the same shield mechanic from Ikarua; if your ship is the same color as the bullets, you don't die. The only difference is that you pick your ship color in the beginning and you're stuck with it the entire run. Mindblowing OST and some bullets have a certain aesthetic that make me drool. yet the rest feels generic, uninspired and plain. A shame, this could have been something amazing, but I am refunding it. Arcade stick works straight out of the box btw. And if you want to run it in fullscreen, press F11 since there are no options ingame.
