This game has a great melancholy tone. The story, art and music all work together perfectly. Backtracking in these games doesn't bother me at all, but if it's an issue for you, this game has a lot of it.

Better captures the atmosphere of Metroid 1-2-3 better than any other metroidvania - most of which lean much more in the "Castlevania" side, or even Dark Souls. It's also, I think, a game about what it's like to be depressed: it's nothing to do with being "sad", it's much broader than that. If you go into it ready to sort of roleplay as a little girl trapped in a weapon, I think you'll have a better time.

I’ve been debating with myself if I should give this game thumbs up or down. It’s not an offensively bad game in any means, I think it’s just largely undercooked and in many aspects boring. You are presented with two difficulty options: Original and Explorer. Original takes away chunks of your health after each death, which require spending the in-game currency (nanogel) to restore.
