This is NOT a Metroidvania. It's a PLATFORMER with a Metroidvania flavor. This game is more like the game Celeste than Castlevania. Every damn screen it's jump on platforms or fall into spikes, bottomless pits, lava... you get the idea. I've played 7 hours, beaten 3 bosses and it feels like most of my playtime was platforming over spikes. The little combat there is, is incredibly bland and boring. Close to no QOL…

TL;DR Aeterna Noctis is a metroidvania with an interesting premise based on an eternal, cyclical conflict. I played on Noctis (hard) and the difficulty felt more unfair than just difficult. I had a number of issues with dropped inputs and design decisions that made it feel like I was getting even more dropped inputs. The game also has a bad tendency to waste the player's time by making backtracking extremely tedious…
