This game has a lot of atmosphere. It was fun meeting the characters of Sam Clemens' world and riding the steamboat down a bit of the Mississippi. I recently took a tour a few days down that river and am reading about its history. Midnight Mysteries #3 is well thought out and carefully designed. It has a lovely journal with helpful notes and a help feature as well. I played on the easiest level with a Windows laptop…

Fun way to spend 5 hours. 3 has substantially more scene "scavenger hunts" (not sure what they're actually called) which are my personal favorite part. These scenes also have started to include more crossword-type puzzles than the earlier games did. The story of Mark Twain and his fictional characters was equally good. The cutscene graphics are good enough here. It's still very linear, but it's worth a few bucks --…

Theoretically interesting (Mark Twain's ghost asks you to help him unravel a mystery via time travel, Shakespeare, Faust & ghost boats!) but the puzzles are visually muddier and more obtuse here than in past entries, and there's no real sense of urgency. So a cool-sounding plot is ruined by bad mechanics & visuals.
