The granddaddy of base builders, too caught up in its hyperfixation on particular simulations to worry about petty concerns like playability or ease of entry. It's weird, it's horribly balanced, and it's infinitely satisfying when your dwarven megaproject comes together and you bathe your enemies in a sea of molten vengeance. Strike the earth.

I played this game nearly a decade ago when it was in ASCII and have played it inbetween over time. Assuming you like creativity, problem solving and world building this is the best game ever made. The community, the game itself and developer come from an era when the internet was a better place, it seems that it has persisteted all these years.

Nice base structure, and nice stead updates, but core problem always remains, this game doesnt make good use of multi threads CPU and even with a monster machine still ends up beeing able to lagout almost every game at one point, you will spend hours on building this nice system only to end up on unavoidable stalls such as 98% of dwarvs not worrking, sleeping or eatin, simply stuck there no jobs while you have 1500x…
