I've played Metroid, Super Metroid, and Axiom Verge. None of the compare with how good this was. The high quality gameplay really separates this from other Metroidvanias, always felt it was fair even when parts got brutal. So many damn good boss fights. Here's hoping for a sequel or new game after this. (usually I like controllers for games like these but the keyboard really shined here)

iI's just like what if Metroid was for masochists. Every boss has like a million phases and every zone introduces a new enemy that will make your life hell. Lot's of cool (evil) ideas, and insane difficulty. One boss killed me from full health simply from contact damage during the intro before the fight even began. This game will just throw shit at you and it will not apologize.
